‘Underworld’ Franchise Becoming a TV Series?
by NewsBot on Jan.23, 2009, under Vampire News
While on the red carpet for Sony Screen Gems' Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, we caught up with UNDERWORLD creator Len Wiseman who reveals that the franchise might not be done yet. "There's a lot of talk about a television series, Im looking into that," he tells B-D exclusively, "if I could be very involved and can be a certain way, I'd be very interested in that." He continues, "We had always hoped to do a trilogy, now that we completed that trilogy it's kind of open, if people can join us and go back in time - and then leap forward, I'd like to go jump all across the time line." There you have it, a possible UNDERWORLD TV series in the works that could take us all across the timeline of Death Dealers vs Lycans.

Two Underworld: Rise of the Lycans Clips
by NewsBot on Jan.20, 2009, under Vampire News
Rhona Mitra defends her man and takes on her own kind in an exclusive MSN clip for Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (opening this Friday). Venture here (sorry the video's not embeddable) for a lil' bloodshed, sword play and daughter-on-father violence.
Update: A second clip is now available via IGN...
Lycans, in case you're catching up, is a prequel that traces the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires known as Death Dealers and their onetime slaves, the Lycans. In the Dark Ages, a young Lycan named Lucian emerges as a powerful leader who rallies the werewolves to rise up against Viktor, the cruel vampire king who has enslaved them. Lucian is joined by his secret lover, Sonja, in his battle against the Death Dealer army and his struggle for Lycan freedom.
You'll find a lengthy interview with director Patrick Tatopoulos here.

VARIETY: TWILIGHT SEQUELS HEATING UP
by NewsBot on Jan.17, 2009, under Vampire News
Variety.com has a short new article addressing all the rumors surrounding ‘New Moon’ and ‘Eclipse’. Read more below:
SOURCE Whether the rumors are true or not about a possibly new director for ‘Eclipse’, isn’t it soon to start talking about replacing Chris, when he was just hired? In any sense, I’m glad the rumors are Leah are untrue, but I still can’t wait to see who they cast for Jane and Aro!Don’t believe everything you hear about Twilight and its sequels. Things are heating up already on the third installment, Eclipse. They haven’t even started the second one yet, New Moon. When you’ve got a robust franchise, filmmakers are eager to get on board. Word is, the Spanish director of The Orphanage, Juan Antonio Bayona, and 3:10 to Yuma helmer James Mangold are both circling the project, but Summit insists that no meetings are scheduled as yet. Both would be strong choices. As to the last two unfilled roles in New Moon, vampires Jane and Aro, no offers have yet gone out, despite what you may have read. And the role of Leah Clearwater isn’t being filled, because according to writer Melissa Rosenberg, she isn’t in the script!
