Video: G TOM MAC’s “Cry Little Sister (Swamp Version)” from TRUE BLOOD

Last month at Vampire-Con in L.A., Fango's Pat Jankiewicz reported on a special presentation (read it here) of a new music video for G TOM MAC's famous LOST BOYS anthem, "Cry Little Sister."

Tonight, Fango heard from Gerard McMann (aka G TOM MAC) with said video in tow. Inspired by (and used for) HBO's hit series TRUE BLOOD, "Cry Little Sister (Swamp Version)" is a fresh and bluesy take on the song, and you can check out the full clip below the jump.

Starting Monday, September 14, the track will be available as a digital single via iTunes and CD Baby. The video was helmed by Anthony Cappello with Paolo Cascio as the Director of Photography, and was edited by Phillip Lindsey & Daniela Pistone.

Reeves Sheds Some Light On His ‘Let The Right One In’ Remake

Earlier today, the LA Times posted their interview with Matt Reeves, director of the upcoming Let The Right One In remake, Let Me In. In it, he shed some light on the new setting and updates everyone on when the film will be hitting theatres.

Reeves recently finished his second draft of the script, which is now set in Reagan-era Colorado, and is currently scouting locations that will maintain the film and book's snowy landscapes. Although he didn't mention when shooting is planned to start (from the sounds of it, it'll probably be this winter if he plans to take advantage of the necessary weather conditions on his location shoots), he stated that the release date is now Fall 2010, as opposed to January 15.

Also, Reeves is working with casting director Avy Kaufman to find the two leads for the film and "vows [the children] will not be aged-up to make the film more of a smoldering 'Twilight'-style romance," so everyone can rest easy tonight.

DAYBREAKERS site opens, poster appears

A teaser poster for Lionsgate’s upcoming vampire epic DAYBREAKERS has been unleashed (you can check it out below), and an official website for the movie has gone live as well. After bouncing around the schedule for a while, the movie recently settled into a confirmed release date of January 8, 2010.

Written and directed by Michael Spierig and Peter Spierig (the Australian brothers behind UNDEAD), DAYBREAKERS is set in an alternate world where bloodsuckers rule, and follows two vampiric siblings (Ethan Hawke, pictured, and Michael Dorman) with radically different views on how to treat the humans they share the planet with. Willem Dafoe and Sam Neill also star. The official site can be found here; there’s not much to it yet, but you can register for updates. Johnny Depp Says ‘Dark Shadows’ Could Be Next!

A disappointing piece of news that has been circulating around the web was that Warner Bros. Pictures' adaptation of Dark Shadows was hitting some rough waters. Some good news comes out of the recent junket for Public Enemies as Johnny Depp is telling reporters the project could be Tim Burton's next, read on for the full story.

“ ‘Dark Shadows’ is happening," Depp tells Collider. "Tim is working on ‘Alice in Wonderland’ which is obviously quite a large piece of work there. So when Tim is done with ‘Alice’ and we get the script, which is very, very close, in order we’ll probably attack it next year. It’s exciting, very exciting. It’s like a lifelong dream for me. I loved the show when I was a kid. I was obsessed with Barnabas Collins. I have photographs of me holding Barnabas Collins posters when I was five or six. I’m very excited to do it.”

Over 1,225 episodes, "Dark Shadows" was a highly atmospheric, spooky soap that featured gothic horror staples like vampires, monsters, witches, werewolves, ghosts and zombies. The show has a continuing rabid fan base that populates Dark Shadows Festival conventions. Numerous TV revivals of the series and pic adaptations have been attempted over the years but none with as high-wattage a star as Depp.

THE STRAIN (Book Review)

In THE STRAIN, the creator of PAN'S LABYRINTH, Guillermo del Toro, teams up with author Chuck Hogan to write a new kind of vampire tale. Going away from the sex and romance part of your typical vampire novel, THE STRAIN is a book more about un-deadly disease than monster myth. With the wretchedly detailed and lurid descriptions of blood and guts similar to that of Michael Crichton's and the scare factor, nightmare inducing power rivaling that of Stephen King's, del Toro and Hogan make THE STRAIN the next great vampire must-read. This novel will take what you thought you knew about bloodsuckers and turn it upside-down and inside-out, almost quite literally, while simultaneously making you cringe with horror and disallowing you to stop reading.

In a reader-friendly form, short chapters that hop from one scenario to the next act at the vehicle for this fast-paced thriller. A STAR WARS-esque core cast of characters brings depth and emotion to the threatening dilemma that they're facing: Dr. Ephraim Goodweather, the eager but green vampire slayer forced to turn from healer to hunter, Vasiliy Fet, the bad-ass exterminator of rats turned exterminator of vampires, Eldritch Palmer, the mysterious billionaire and vampire lackey, and Abraham Setrakian, the wise old man who has the most knowledge and experience with vampires and can still kick some major vampire ass.

The worst thing I can say about THE STRAIN is that we have to wait until 2010 and 2011 for the blood-tingling tale to continue through the sequels. If you like a good and bloody stimulating page-turner, I highly recommend this novel. At times stomach churning, with its graphic gore, but always thought provoking, with its fresh take on an old fable, THE STRAIN is not your grandmother's vampire story.

‘Thirst’ Trailer Provides Bite, Intense Vampire Action!

Focus Feature has released the official trailer for Park Chan-wook's highly anticipated vampire comedy/drama Thirst, which arrives in theaters July 31. The trailer is very representational of what you'll see, only it appears to be "action-packed." My advice to all of you who decide to see the film, down two Red Bulls and get ready for two and half hours of Park Chan-wook exposition, mixed with a taste of blood (oh yes, pun intended). The story finds Korea's leading man, Song Kang-ho (The Host), as a much-loved priest who becomes a vampire after a failed medical experiment; he becomes a tortured and depraved soul.

First Look at the Second Season of ‘True Blood’

If you missed the first season, now is the time to find a way to catch up (Hulu maybe?) on the adaptation that follows Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), a barmaid living in Louisiana who can read people's minds, and how her life is turned upside down when the Vampire Bill (Stephen Moyer), walks into her place of employment two years after vampires "came out of the coffin" on national television.
